The Old Testament vs the New Testament rules

One comment I hear Christians say a lot is that Jesus abolished the laws of the OT and established a new Covenant. Therefore, all the rules that god established for moral behavior in the OT are no longer in effect. We hear how the god of the OT has been tempered by Jesus and that he is not as violent as the god of the OT was.

Now what is interesting about this is that Christians also tell us that Jesus is god, part of the Trinity, the Creator and has existed for all time. That there is really only one god.  Now if Jesus has existed for all time and was around when the universe was created, that means he was around when the OT god (who is actually him) made the rules that Jesus would then abolish at a later point.

Now, what makes this really, really  interesting is that Christians also maintain that god and gods laws are unchanging.
"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever." Isaiah 40:8
"...having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever...." 1 Peter 1:23
"For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle [a tiny mark in the original spelling of a word] will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled." Matthew 5:18
"And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail." Luke 16:17

"You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you."
And what makes this completely fascinating is that Jesus said he did not come to change the law.

Matthew 5:17-18 (New International Version)
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."

Now, if Jesus is God, and has been around since he created everything, that means he created the OT laws. Therefore, it is absurd to also claim that he needed to come along later to change or fulfill the laws. He is all knowing and omnipotent. How is it possible that he did not know that the original Covenant would not work for all time? How is it possible that he could not make the original Covenant work for all time?

It is humorous for Christians to try and pretend that Jesus has come along after the fact while maintaining that he was involved with the original creation.
